"Invalid Time and Date" error on login
print icon

If you are receive this error upon trying to log in or make an account, it means that the time on your device is incorrect.

The fix is to have your device set the time automatically so that it matches the correct time for your region. Please have your device connected to the internet already before applying the fixes below.

PS4:

  • Open Settings
  • Choose Date and Time
  • Click on Set Using Internet

See here for more information by Sony.

PS5:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Select System
  • Click on Date and Time
  • Choose Set Date and Time
  • Pick Set Using Internet

Xbox:

Xbox should already have the time set to match your local time if you are connected to Xbox Live, as it will not allow you to change the time manually. It will only let you change the time if you are offline and therefore not connected to the internet. If your Xbox is connected to the internet, the time displayed by your Xbox is correct, but Rec Room still returns an "Invalid Time and Date" error, please let us know by submitting a ticket with us.

See here for more information by Xbox Support.

PC:

  • Open Windows Settings
  • Click Time & Language
  • You should see "Set Time Automatically" and "Set Time Zone Automatically". Make sure both options are set to on.

See here for more information by Microsoft Support.

iOS:

  • Open the Settings app
  • Tap on General
  • Tap on Date & Time
  • Turn on Set Automatically

See here for more information by Apple Support.

Android:

  • Open the Settings app
  • Scroll down to System
  • Select Date & Time
  • Make sure that "Network-provided time zone" and "Network-provided time" are both enabled
  • (Optional) If this doesn't fix it for you, you can also try to set the time manually. Please keep in mind it must be accurate to the actual time. Even a deviation of a couple of seconds can induce this error.

Different Android devices may differ with how their setting pages are laid out. Please refer to your device's instructions or online support pages for more information.

Oculus Quest 1/2:
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to change the time and date on Oculus Quest. Please see the Oculus Quest Support page for more help here.
